With each spring we see the newness of life in so many ways. Warm sunshine melts the snow, grass and flowers begin to push through the cold earth, winds bring the spring rains and young animals are born and begin their enthusiastic introduction to the world, with the innocent freedom naturally born into them. All these springtime wonders bring a sense of excitement for the possibilities liberty bestows upon us all.
In this sculpture of a young colt bucking, jumping and running free as the wind, we can see a correlation between its enjoyment of being free and the American West. Whether in the past or the modern West, there has always been a Spirit of self-determination and freedom. This little colt runs and bucks, Chasing the Wind, and we in the West feel the same desire, passed to us from pioneers and cowboys who pursued their dreams.
