Ernest A. Love was raised in Prescott in the early 1900’s who gave his life for freedom as an early aviator during WWI. He played football at Prescott High School, graduated in 1914 and went on to study engineering at Stanford University. In 1917 he quit school and joined the Army to become a fighter pilot in WWI. Love flew more than 20 combat missions over France before he was shot down. He died on September 16, 1918, just two months before the war ended. He will always be remembered as a hometown Prescott hero who sacrificed ALL because of his love of flying and to give freedom to people in a far away world. Sharlot Hall Museum has all the history about him.
